26 August 2010:NUS scores well in Customer Satisfaction Index of Singapore 2010

Despite continued downward slide in customer satisfaction for the education sector since 2007 to an all-time low of 65.5 in 2010 from 68.4 in 2009, NUS was the only university which showed positive growth in the aspect, from 69.0 in 2009 to 71.0 in 2010.

NUS joins iTunes U today, making it the first university in Singapore and Southeast Asia to leverage on the platform's capabilities, along with many other top universities around the world which are already part of the iTunes U community.

Để đáp ứng nhu cầu tìm hiểu về chương trình này cho mùa tuyển sinh mới, đại diện Ban Tuyển sinh NUS tại Việt Nam sẽ có buổi báo cáo và trả lời thắc mắc vào 03h00 chiều Chủ nhật, ngày 22/8/2010 tại 26 Lê Quý Đôn, Q.3.

Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research gets new home

Leading biodiversity research centre in Southeast Asia, the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research (RMBR) at NUS received its latest philanthropic gift of S$25 million from the Lee Foundation. This is the Museum's third substantial gift in six months. With this gift, RMBR will build a new purpose-designed building to showcase Southeast Asian biodiversity and environmental issues in an exhibition hall that will be 10 times the size of the current gallery. Slated to be ready by 2014, RMBR will be renamed the 'Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum'.

NUS-Tsinghua Extreme Search Centre to push frontiers of search technology

NUS and Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, along with the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) launched the NUS-Tsinghua Extreme Search (NExT) Search Centre in Beijing on 23 July 2010. Prior to this, an agreement to set up the Centre was signed between NUS, Tsinghua University and MDA on 1 May 2010.

Hơn 130 bạn trẻ Việt Nam trúng tuyển NUS 2010 chuẩn bị lên đường

Năm nay, hơn 130 bạn trẻ Việt Nam đã xuất sắc trúng tuyển Viện Đại học Quốc gia Singapore (NUS). Trong đó, có khoảng 20 bạn được học bổng toàn phần, số còn lại đều được cho vay học phí và sinh học phí với nhiều ưu đãi. Các bạn sẽ lên đường sang Singapore vào cuối tuần thứ 2 của tháng 7 để kịp tham dự các hoạt động nhập môn.

Với các bạn sinh viên ở tại Temasek Hall có thể check-in PGPR từ 12/7/2010 đến 26/7/2010

We have check with OSA in regards to the Temasek Hall issue. Students who are allocated to Temasek Hall are only able to check-in after 26 July 2010. They have arranged with PGPR to assist students who are taking QET and are allocated to Temasek Hall, for them to stay at PGPR till 26 July 2010. Please advice/ inform the affected students to write in to ask@pgpr.nus.edu.sg to make necessary arrangements with PGPR.

Scientists discover novel drug combination with greater benefits for breast cancer patients

A team led by Senior Principal Investigator Dr Lee Soo Chin from the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (CSI Singapore), NUS, has found a novel combination of drugs that can potentially halve therapy costs and decrease the side effects of treatment for advanced breast cancer patients. The research was published in the leading cancer journal Annals of Oncology on 29 April 2010, and was carried out under the Experimental Therapeutics programme at CSI Singapore.

Deputy Mayor of Chengdu visits NUS

Deputy Mayor of Chengdu of the People's Republic of China Mr Fu Yonglin visited NUS on 9 April 2010, where he met with NUS President Prof Tan Chorh Chuan and NUS Vice Provost (Academic Personnel) Prof Lai Choy Heng. During his visit, he was given an overview of the University and brought on a tour around the NUS Kent Ridge campus.

President S R Nathan officially opens College Green Residences

With the official opening of College Green Residences, NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP) graduate students now have a new place to call 'home'. The hostel, previously known as Dunearn Road Hostel (DRH), sprawls over 35,000 square metres with 63 units. Singapore President and NUS Chancellor Mr S R Nathan, a former resident of DRH (1952 to 1954), officially opened the hostel on 9 April 2010.
